Customized Guitar & Bass Lessons

Have fun learning how to play almost song in any style, with professional guitar and bass lessons from Classic Guitar and Bass Studio in Silver Spring, Maryland. Lessons, whatever your level, beginners to advanced, focus on healthy technique, using ideas from Alexander and Shearer techniques, to make it easy to play, so your body doesn’t get sick, or can recover and move on, if it is. Learn to easily read music, at least through a beginner’s book. Learn new songs you choose, or expand your classical or jazz repertoire. Learn functional theory, how to think musically, and conceptually. Learn to hear, sing, identify, and give names to sounds, and if you want, learn to improvise. Or just learn to strum some chords. Learn how to play in a group for your house of worship. Whatever you are interested in musically, I will help you with.

Individual Customized Lessons

Over the years, I’ve learned to see quickly what the next step is for a student to move forward. Most progress is conceptual, whether physical, or musical, it’s the way we think about it. Students learn how to practice, and how to learn. Also, over the years, I’ve learned much from my students, and to be aware of each student’s unique and individual learning styles. Lessons are given once a week for all ages and all levels, and range from 30 minutes for very young children, 45 minutes for most students learning popular styles like Rock or Blues, to an hour for Classical or Jazz.

About the Music Educator

Learning how to play an instrument is fun, rewarding, and for most people, will take much less time, with a professional and experienced musician as your guide. I was lead guitar in my first rock band, when I was 12. I am a Peabody Conservatory Graduate and also studied at Segovia’s School in Musica En Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain. I continue to be a local working, performing musician, and it’s been my privilege to have taught thousands of students for over 50 years.
